OUR HISTORY

The AMC Honor Guard was founded in 2006 when Colonel Groves, a member of the Commandant’s staff learned of seven funerals for WWII veterans in the area that were expected to have little to no military presence or recognition. Grove mustered a team of several Senior Cadets that were dedicated to honoring these individuals and their service to the University and the Nation. When the seven services were completed, the cadets elected to form a cadet special unit called the AMC Honor Guard which would provide funeral honors to Veterans, former cadets, faculty, and the like. The AMC Guard has lived on to this day, with each passing year Senior cadets teach newly selected Juniors all the components of conducting a funeral service. As the years have passed the AMC Honor Guard has only grown in its community outreach and has formed a strong working relationship with the Bryan/College Station Community, the Aggie Field of Honor, and several local funeral homes.

The AMC Honor Guard is a purely service organization and the cadets live by a simple motto, “Veneratio Fortis” meaning “Honor the Brave”. Bound by an obligation to serve the Aggie Family, the members of the AMC Honor Guard train often and are constantly improving and preparing to serve.
